Woman accused of stabbing her father to death and cutting out his heart, reports say

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. (Gray News) — A woman in Indiana is accused of stabbing her father to death and then cutting out his heart.

Online jail records from the Porter County Sheriff’s Office show Serena Desiree Dolnics, 32, was booked into jail early Monday morning on a murder charge.

She is being held without bond.

According to WGN, authorities responded to a home Sunday evening for a wellness check after family members asked police to check on Gregory Dolnics, 70.

Court documents obtained by WTHR said that family members told dispatchers that Serena Dolnics lived with her father and that she had been making “odd statements” whenever family asked to speak with him.

When officers arrived, they entered the home and found the body of Gregory Dolnics. Documents obtained by WGN said he was found with his heart cut out, which was lying on his stomach. He also had stab wounds on his head, hands and arms.

After officers called SWAT, Serena Dolnics, who was reportedly covered in blood, was arrested at the scene. She was taken to the hospital for injuries to her hand before being taken to jail.

Serena Dolnics reportedly told police that her hand injuries came from working in her garden while using a weed whacker and a small saw.

Officers noted there was no garden on the property, according to WTHR.

Three bloody knives were recovered inside the home.

Investigators are working to determine a motive.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Serena Dolnics pleaded not guilty on Thursday.
