Authorities respond to Perez Hilton’s home after he appears to harm himself on livestream

(CNN) - Authorities responded to Perez Hilton’s home in Florida after reports the celebrity gossip blogger appeared to be harming himself on a TikTok livestream.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to Hilton’s home Tuesday night after reports he was livestreaming acts of self-harm on TikTok.

The sheriff’s office says deputies confirmed with family members on scene that “an individual” believed to be Hilton was alone inside the home and worked to de-escalate the situation.

Deputies say the individual was “safely recovered” and taken to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.

The sheriff’s office said its Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals were on scene providing support and resources to the family.

Hilton said earlier this year he’d suffered a medical scare that left him hospitalized for several weeks. He shared in June he had recently relocated to Miami from Las Vegas with his children.

Hilton, a 48-year-old Cuban American, rose to prominence after launching his gossip blog. He also launched a fashion blog, a musical series and has become a well-known TV personality.
