Connecticut launches mandatory education program for liquor permit applicants

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz will join state officials Tuesday to highlight a new mandatory liquor permittee education program.

The program, effective January 1, 2026, requires applicants to complete educational training to receive a liquor permit.

The program includes state-developed videos and materials covering responsible alcohol sales, prevention of sales to minors, avoidance of overservice, restrictions on promotions, and other compliance topics.

The press conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Wise Old Dog Liquor Store at 612 S Quaker Lane in West Hartford.
