Waterbury man dies in motorcycle crash

WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - A man from Waterbury died in a motorcycle crash that happened on Interstate 84 in Waterbury over the weekend.

State police identified the man as 35-year-old Enrique Antonio Rivera.

Troopers said the crash closed several lanes on I-84 east just before 10 a.m. on Sunday. The three right lanes were closed.

According to state police, Rivera was riding a Yamaha YZF-R7 that left the highway, entered its shoulder, and hit a guardrail and bridge parapet for the South Main Street overpass.

Rivera was thrown from the motorcycle due to the impact.

Troopers said he suffered fatal injuries.

The highway was closed for about six hours for the investigation.

State police said they are seeking witnesses.
