1 transported to hospital from Portland house fire

PORTLAND, CT (WFSB) - Firefighters were on the scene of a house fire in Portland that broke out early Tuesday morning.

Emergency units were dispatched at 3:45 a.m. to Indian Hill Road on report of a bedroom fire on the second floor.

The Middletown Fire Department, Westfield Fire Department, and South Fire District provided mutual aid to support the firefighting efforts.

Firefighters said the fire was quickly contained to the room where it started.

One occupant was transported to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation, they said.

The Fire Marshal’s office took over the investigation.

There’s no word on a cause.
