Crash knocks out power to hundreds of customers in Bristol

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) - A crash that brought down a utility pole in Bristol left customers without power.

A section of Washington Street was closed on Thursday morning.

As of 6 a.m., Eversource reported 288 customers without power in the city. Later in the morning, however, the energy company reported that power was completely restored.

The pole was knocked down between Central and Garden streets, city officials said.

According to the Mayor’s Office, utility crews were on site to remove and replace the damaged pole, as well as work to restore services to nearby homes and businesses.

The fallen pole blocked Washington Street.

Non-life threatening injuries were reported from the crash.

Officials urged drivers to seek alternate routes and to use caution around work crews.
